Manview observations #1: What the heck is "the core"?

Welcome to the first Manview Observations aka observations of the romance genre from Manview Steve. I'm very excited about this series because it brings a fresh Manview perspective to a lot of the things we, as female readers of the genre take for granted. Please give Steve a warm welcome as he explores the topic of "The Core" from a man's perspective.

So far I have completed two book reviews for romance novels and have finished my third book which I am about to review.  But I have decided to do an opinion piece to get a little steam off my chest. It has to do with a woman’s vagina being called ‘her core.’

I expect one of the key differences between being a romance novel and erotica is the language they use. Since I am reading romance, it is on the tame side. Referring to a man’s penis often manifests in the wording cock, erection or ‘marble tower.’  I am comfortable with any of those.  And a women’s vagina is usually not referred to (and just implied) or given some ludicrous name such as peach or entrance or womanhood.  But I was reading one book and it was referred to as ‘her core!’ I could not get over it.

What the hell is ‘her core?’  For starters it demeans the woman as shouldn’t her core be her brain, her heart or her personality?  To think her core is focused on her nether region means she is just another lustful animal, and even though I am providing a Manview on the topic, I find it disrespectful to refer to her love pit as ‘her core.’  Saddens me being such a sensitive individual myself.

And when a guy thinks of ‘core,’ he is thinking of a nuclear reactor and its core, the cream in an Oreo cookie, or the core processor in a computer’s motherboard.  He isn’t thinking ‘core’ he when he is thinking of ‘that area south of the border, he is mouthing the word "pussy" or "love pit" or something of the ilk. CORE?!?! Who the hell wants to put his marble tower in her core. Stick it in her vagina, her pussy, or her love pit. Leave the idea of core out of it! Being respectful of women, I want her core to be her brain or her heart.  Therefore, I get confused and think about sticking my marble tower (yes, this name stuck with me!) in her ear (as core could refer to her brain) or her navel or between her breasts if I believe her core is her heart.  But her core is not her pussy unless she is an uncontrollable slut and I cannot end up with a heroine who is an uncontrollable slut (even though I may want to test ride ‘her core’ for a few nights!). Make your heroines out to be better than that authors or I will not fall in love with them.

Signed,

A Man's View.

Wow! So there you have it ladies, the Manview on "the core". What do you think? Personally, I have to confess, I've never really thought of it that way. It has never occurred to me, speaking from the point of view of a woman. And her "love pit"? I'm not sure where Steve came up with that one, but I haven't heard that either. How about that "marble tower", eh? Do you want his marble tower in your core? :-p

Let me know what you think of this first Manview Observation. You likey? Me do! I can't wait to see what the next Manview Observation will be. :-)

  1. I do not believe core is referring to the vagina (at least in the books I can recall), but to the area of the body behind your belly button. Similar to saying your "core" muscles. As in, "her core clenched" would be a tightening of those core muscles (which can also cause the vagina to tighten). It has always made sense to me given how our reproductive system is situated I guess. Maybe men wouldn't get that because their sensations are more outtie to our innie? LOL

    1. I've always thought of it as all of the woman's private parts. I've never considered it to be the core muscles like around her abdomen. Besides, if her core clenched and it was describing her core muscles, there's nothing sexy about it. I'd be thinking she was having a stomach spasm.

  2. Love pit? Is that, like, an arm pit with some lube on it? Weird.
