I did it. I married a billionaire.

My reasons are my own, but the last thing I expected was to feel owned.

I may have taken vows, but I'm still determined to be me.

Now his rules are taking over my world, but I'm not the kind of girl to just obey.

There's only one problem: I might actually be falling for him…

I have no idea how this marriage is going to go, but holding onto a piece of myself while succumbing to his dirty pleasures is shaping up to be the ride of a lifetime.

This is a very difficult review for me to write because I loved book 1: Dirty Billionaire. I simply adored Creighton in the story.

With Dirty Pleasures, we see a little of the alphahole-ness in Creighton in the beginning but after that, we see a softer side to him as he starts to acknowledge his feelings for Holly. As for Holly, she's a flight-risk. She's become so twitchy that with every chapter, I think she's going to bolt and I hate that in a heroine. She's also become a bit of a hot mess when it comes to her relationship with her mother, and she's not the strong but naive girl we met in Dirty Billionaire. Instead she's neurotic and kind of a blubbering mess.

There is this sense of impending disaster throughout the story which also wore on my nerves. I think it has to do with Holly being a flight-risk. I keep thinking something is going to happen, and instead of confronting Creighton head on, she's going to take off rather than deal with the problem.

And to top it all off, I hated the way Holly was treating Creighton. I felt so bad for him, for all the things he was doing for her, trying to show her how much she meant to him over how short a period of time and she was being bitchy, unreasonable and caught up in her own insecurities and letting other people dictate how she should feel and behave around Creighton. This is the part where you see the side of me that almost always takes the side of the hero, especially this time, when I think the hero has done nothing wrong.

All of that takes her down from being a strong if naive woman, to just plain stupid. Sigh. I had such high hopes for Holly. She even featured in a post I did of heroines I like, but she's very disappointing in this installment of the story. Now, I want to take back everything I've said about her in Dirty Billionaire. What happened to the strong heroine from Dirty Billionaire who fought for what she wanted and took charge of her life? Instead of character development in this installment, I think her character devolved. So disappointing.

And the ending .... are you freaking kidding me? Seriously? What is she? Twelve years old? And dammit, now I at least have to read the beginning of Dirty Together because I want to find out how Creighton is going to react to what Holly's done and it sure as heck better not be him groveling this time. I thought her running the first time was perfectly understandable. This second time was juvenile and made for an infuriating ending.

This story is a lot less sexy than the first one. Aside from a little make-up sex in the beginning, there's not much else to keep the sexy going. I assume it's because Ms March is focused on building a relationship between Creighton and Holly, in order to develop it into something which will hold together beyond the sex for a lasting marriage. I understand that aspect of the storytelling, but seriously, it's how incredibly sexy Creighton is which attracted me to the story in the first place.

I so wanted to love this installment as much as I loved Dirty Billionaire but I haven't. It has taken me over two weeks to read most of the almost 200 pages of the book. I kept reading one chapter, putting it down, reading another chapter, putting it down. I can usually sit and read a book of this length through in less than 2 hours if it captures my attention. I seemed to keep getting distracted with this one.

I think the problem is this is a serial, though each installment is longer than your usual serial and this is the middle story. There tends to be a lull in the middle story for some reason with a lot of these serials and it causes me to lose interest. I want the heat and the sizzle which captured my attention in the first book to carry through and continue to drag me to the end of story.

About the author

auMeghan March is the author of contemporary and erotic romance novels.

Meghan March has been known to wear camo face paint and tromp around in woods wearing mud-covered boots, all while sporting a perfect manicure. She's also impulsive, easily entertained, and absolutely unapologetic about the fact that she loves to read and write smut. Her past lives include slinging auto parts, selling lingerie, making custom jewelry, and practicing corporate law. Writing books about dirty talking alpha males and the strong, sassy women who bring them to their knees is by far the most fabulous job she's ever had. She loves hearing from her readers.
