Blog Policy

Thank you for being interested in having Deanna's World review your book! Right now, I blog for fun of it, with the hopes of creating something more one day when I have time.  I don't like to refuse authors, so before you send me that email request, please read the following below. Keep in mind that even if your book fits the genre, it also depends on my interest on the book plot and my availability.  I have commitments during the day, along with the day job of editing / proofreading (if you need one, contact me!), so I read when I have time and usually on the weekends. I try to get at least one review up a week, depending on my and the blog's schedule.

Sub-Genres of Romance I Prefer to Read/Review:
  • Paranormal Romance
  • Fantasy Romance
  • Erotic Romance (MF or menage)
  • Biker/MC Romance
  • Contemporary Romance
  • Time Travel
  • Historical Romance
  • Romantic Suspense
  • Urban Fantasy

Genres I Will Review if Time or Interest Permits, in and out of the Romance Genre:
Romance
  • Young Adult
  • RomCom/Chick Lit
  • Dark Romance
  • LGBT Romance
Other
  • Literary Fiction
  • Women's Fiction
  • Suspense
  • Mystery
  • Thriller
  • Psychological Thriller
  • Political Thrillers
  • Paranormal/Ghost Stories

I Do Not Read/Review the following:
  • Children's Books
  • Biographies
  • Femdom Romance
  • I/R Romance
  • Zombie Stories
  • Horror
  • Poetry
  • Religious Fiction

Note:
My reviews are posted the blog here and on Goodreads, and I also post the link on Facebook, and Twitter. They also show up via RSS on BookBlogging and Bloglovin'. I will try to post most of my reviews on Amazon too.

I do not review audiobooks but I will review an audiobook if I happen to listen to and finish one. The reason for this is it takes me a long time to finish an audiobook and I may not be able to get those done in a timely manner for a specific deadline required for a scheduled review.

I enjoy attending book/book-related launches or events, and I am open to promotional events for books that fit in with my reading tastes and blog.

Book reviews will include the following information:
  • book cover
  • book title and author
  • name of series and number in series, if applicable
  • synopsis (from Goodreads or Amazon)
  • publication date and publisher
  • purchase link to Amazon
  • link to review on Goodreads
  • rating scale is posted below
  • links to find out more about the author (if I can find that information)

Does your book fit a genre I might enjoy? Great! Keep reading!

For authors/publishers:
If you want me to review your book(s), email me.

Step 1: Get in touch with me
Email me with an introduction to the book, the genre, if it's part of a tour/launch, your preferred date for the review, and a blurb/synopsis. Please give me a week to reply, since I have to consult both my work and blog/review schedule.

Step 2: Send the copy (if I agreed)
If I agree to consider the book for a review, I prefer a copy in EPUB or MOBI format for my tablet.  Signed paper copies are also a welcome souvenir, and comprise the bulk of my book collection.

If for any reason I cannot finish your book, I will email you to let you know. I would rather not finish a book and eventually decline to do a review than to try to finish a book and just rant about it. This will only make you (author/publisher) and me feel bad.

Step 3: Wait for my review/update
If I review the book, I will send you the link when it goes live.  I try to review the book as soon as I finish it so I don't forget anything.  I do not send my blog draft to the author/publisher prior to posting unless you have provided images/content you would like included with the the review/post.  I do not have time to create a lot of pictorials/memes for my reviews, so I welcome media content from the author/publisher.

Step 4: Let me know
If you want to share the review link or a part of the review on other websites (Facebook, Amazon, etc), please let me know so I can cross-post it on my social media accounts.

For tours/promos:
I am happy to post promotional content (within reason) for authors whose books I will read, whose books I have read already, and for upcoming books I would actually want to read.

Step 1: Contact me
Email me a request for a tour, promo post, cover reveal, or teaser if your book is out or upcoming.

Step 2: Email me your content (if I agreed)
Send me a copy of the content you would like posted in both HTML and Word format.  This way, if there is something in your HTML that is not compatible with my page, I can look at the Word copy to see how you wanted it to look.  I may change the content to match my page a bit better (only font, image placement, etc.).  I will not change the substance of your content.  If I have reviewed the book already, I will include a link to the review.  I will also include my Amazon Affiliate link to purchase the book(s).

Step 3: Wait for my blog post/update
I will email you the date when my post will be out as well as the link. Again, if you want to share the link or a part of the review/interview on other websites (Facebook, Amazon, etc), please let me know.

For interviews:
I am also happy to interview authors whose books I will read, whose books I have read already, and for upcoming books I would actually want to read.

Step 1: Contact me
Email me a request for a review and interview, if your book is out or upcoming.  For an interview, I need time to read your book first doing the interview. So if you need a specific date for the review and interview to be published, give me enough time to read your book and formulate interview questions.

Step 2: Wait for my questions (if I agreed)
If I finish your book, I will email you questions and some other info I might need.

Step 3: Email me your responses
Be as thorough and as engaging in your answers as I know you can! Include in your responses the links you want me to post. These can be your blog, website, twitter, where your books are sold, etc. Give me your profile pic you want to include as well as a short profile for my About the Author section at the end of the interview.

Step 4: Wait for my blog post/update
I will email you the date when my post will be out as well as the link. Again, if you want to share the link or a part of the review/interview on other websites (Facebook, Amazon, etc), please let me know.

My Rating System:
I give honest book reviews.  I post both the good and the bad on my blog and Goodreads.  That being said, if you have asked me to review your book, I feel privileged to have the opportunity and don't want either one of us to feel bad if the content does not agree with me.  So, if I just can't get into the book (and I always try to make it through the first few chapters before I give up), I will email you and let you know that it didn't work for me and why. If that happens, I may or may not write a review with no rating on Goodreads and a DNF on the blog. This is rare. I will not waste your time as an author and my time as well, if something does not work for me.

2 Stars:

This book was ok. I finished it but it did not make me want to read the next one in the series or more of the author.
1 Star:

I did not like the book. I struggled to finish it and it made me ranty, or I did not finish it because the content was not for me (like if it had rape, for example), but the writing was not bad.
0 Star:
I really did not like this book and I did not finish it. It made me super ranty and all my friends heard about it.

Heat Rating:

Because I read mainly in the romance genre, I like to know what kind of heat/steam/sultry sex factor a book has.  For that reason, I also give books a heat rating based on how sexy they are.

5 Flames:
Flame  Flame  Flame  Flame  Flame
Lots and lots and lots of sex. Probably sex in every chapter. Multiple partners, BDSM or backdoor sex.
4 Flames:
Flame  Flame  Flame  Flame
Steamy sex (somewhat kinky or descriptive).
3 Flames:
Flame  Flame  Flame
More plot than sex, but it happens once or twice.
2 Flames:
Flame  Flame
One sex scene mostly behind closed doors (without much description).
1 Flame:
Flame
No sex at all, but may have kissing, sexual tension or innuendo.
No heat:
no heat
Mostly young adult, with little to no sexual tension, some basic attraction.

Disclaimer
My reviews are not influenced by author(s) or publisher(s). Giving me a copy of your book does not guarantee a favorable review. My reviews are my honest opinions and thoughts while reading, and after reading, the book. I do not accept/receive monetary compensation for reviews.

Also, please note reviews I post are based on the version of the book I have read. If there is a more recent version and I was send an older, uncorrected version to review, I will base my review on the older version I have read. The reason for this is because I can only review what I have read. If there are changes, I cannot comment on them or review them, if I have not read them.

All books, unless otherwise stated, are my own copy. I do not receive monetary compensation for my reviews.  I will not share, forward, copy, distribute, trade, or in any way infringe on an author’s copyright regarding ebooks I receive. I will NEVER sell ARCs. From time to time, I will hold giveaways which may include printed ARCs and printed finished copies that have been received for review. If you prefer that I do not giveaway the print book you provided for review, please let me know in the review request.

All reviews and promotional posts will include a link to purchase the book through my Amazon Affiliate link.

Please don't copy my posts and pass them off as your own.
