Welcome to another Manview observation. Mr Manview is asking for help on topics for 2018. See what he has to say.

I hope you enjoy this installment of Mr Manview's observations.

Yes, Mr. Manview needs your help! Do not be shocked romance readers and writers. While being an alpha-male, proud that I am comfortable enough in my own skin to let others know I read romance, this alpha-male also possesses the dominantly female trait of being a listener! And I want to listen to what you have to say.

As you know, I write two Manviews per month. One is a review of a romance novel, and the other is a Manview Opinion piece. Writing the reviews is easy; all I need to do is criticize others (just kidding, I have read some great stuff!). And there are thousands of books to read. I am so far ahead of reading and writing romance book reviews, you will need to schedule a review and ask Deanna’s World for a favor to fit an unscheduled review in over the next few months.(Huge sums of money or the gift of bottles of wine rated 95+ seem to do the trick! (Again – just kidding!)

But now, all kidding aside, I find it more difficult to select topics for the opinion pieces. I want them to be edgy, to make a difference, and to raise consciousness, but at the same time not to offend or hurt people. For example, in some of the book reviews I have done, I have highlighted the challenges women have had to be heard and listened to throughout history. I admire and support the role authors such as Pamela Hart and Tea Cooper have played to bring this subject to light in their awesome romance novels. Yet, I feel a bit unqualified to write an opinion piece on the same topic. I can appreciate and applaud others for their insightful treatment of the topic, but am not sure I can write a caring, edgy, insightful piece myself on it.

Same with #metoo, women’s health issues, the impact on having menstrual cycles affecting a woman if she is President or PM. But as Mr. Manview’s resolution for 2018, I promise to find the courage to tackle what is most of interest to romance readers around the globe. Therefore, I need your help! Give me ideas on what to write about. I am committed to write on what you want to read. I want topics you are interested in and your need to understand the ‘manview’ on the topic. I want to avoid writing an opinion piece that is the equivalent to sending you a Facebook request stating I am a 5-star general and showing you a photo of my junk! I know I can do better than that, but still need your ideas on the topics of most interest.

So let me have it! What topics do you want me to write about in 2018 dealing with romance? And if the interest is there, I will write it. I have never let a lack of knowledge or skills stop me in the corporate world, so I will not let it stop me either when writing Manview Opinions! I await what you have to say! Start your recommendations…now!

(Comments on the Facebook and blog posts will be collected and prioritized. Thanks for your help in shaping the Manview agenda in 2018!)

    1. It's a pet peeve of mine when an author doesn't practice safe sex in a romance. It would make a good topic.

  7. When you read romances, are the heroes realistic in terms of their romantic moves? Or do you think they are what women want to read?
