Derek Block seeks revenge. Frankie Jordan seeks professional dominance. He wants her, she wants him. Lines that can’t cross begin to blur. Things start heating up as real estate gets real… This is episode one of the five-episode novella series Timber Towers.

I woke up this morning and messaged my friend Bambi as I do every morning and I got an "Oh man, I've been waiting for your to wake up all day!" (We're in different time zones). Then she proceeded to tell me that I must read Unblocked because she needed to discuss Part Two with me. Well, I do have to read Part One first, so I one-clicked.

Let's just say that Bambi's enthusiasm and recommendation didn't disappoint.

Unblocked is extremely well written in a rough and ready kind of way.

Frankie is refined, professional and poised, the complete opposite to Derek. I don't think I've ever read a man like Derek before. He's so rough and raw, and Marni Mann's writing reflects it so well.

I loved the alternating POVs between chapters because I just wanted to get into Derek's head and know what he's all about. I loved how basic he is, in a really, really good way. He sounds just like the kind of man that a woman would want to tame, just to see if she can. There's something so wild about him.

Of course, there's the sexual tension in the book. This was incredibly well done. Ms Mann managed to wind the tension right up and when you think it's finally going somewhere, she throws a wrench in the works, so you're still frustrated. :-) It's a good thing that I've got Part Two ready to read. The wait would have driven me bonkers.

About the author

auBest-selling Author Marni Mann knew she was going to be a writer since middle school. While other girls her age were daydreaming about teenage pop stars, Mann was fantasizing about penning her first novel. She crafts sexy, titillating stories that weave together her love of darkness, mystery, passion, and human emotion. A New Englander at heart, she now lives in Sarasota, Florida with her husband and their two dogs who subsequently have been characters in her books. When she's not nose deep in her laptop working on her next novel, she's scouring for chocolate, sipping wine, traveling to new locations, and devouring fabulous books.
